Description: I've always like the bird portraits of J. F. Lansdowne. So I took a bird pic, erased the background, and applied a Topaz simplify filter. Also, because this was a female, I took the liberty of painting in the ruby crown myself.

Re: Ruby-crowned Kinglet

New favorite for me, Al! This is a great use of Topaz. This should be a greeting card.

You did a beautiful job! It would make a gorgeous card.

Re: Ruby-crowned Kinglet

Thank you, Doris & Martha. I have had such a blast since I got a good birding lens last summer. Unfortunately, most of our resident species have flown the coop for the winter. But working on these portraits might just help me make it through until spring. Masking around all those spruce needles took me all bloody morning! LOL

Moose this a very, very nice bird shot. You absolutely applied the best treatment to this great image.

Re: Ruby-crowned Kinglet

Thank you very much, Don. Kinglets are some of the fastest-flitting birds around and I was lucky to capture this shot in the first place.

Absolutely perfect shot and treatment but could you put in a tiny catchlight on the eye for me.

You know, I printed this off and put it on the coffee table; I've been looking at it all evening. And what you suggest may be a good improvement. Thank you for commenting.

Very nice - I really like the Topaz effect with this picture.
