magic losso tool zooms away!

Help! When I use the magic lasso tool to select something in a photo and I get close to the edge of the picture, the tool takes off on it's own, zooming off into space toward the edge of the screen! Then I have to start all over. This is driving me nuts. Can anyone explain this and tell me how to keep this from happening?

kerriann,

Hopefully someone will be along soon who can help you. I have used Elements for about 18 months but still can't get the hang of the magnetic lasso. I tend to stick with the ordinary lasso ... at least that way I can stay on the image

When you get close to the edge, pause, but don't let go of the mouse. Hold down the Spacebar which will let you scroll over to see more of the image. Let go of the Spacebar and continue Lassoing.

Also, if you get points you don't want, press Backspace to remove unwanted points on the selection.

Thanks Editor, it sure helps to discover the backspace button to "reverse" that lasso rather than start all the way over. And the spacebar trick will sure come in handy,I know! I have a lot to learn. (Can't wait for the PSE3 book I ordered to arrive.)

I too am being frustrated by this behavior of the program. I don't understand why the edit window has scroll bars when the image is smaller than the window. I can't find anything about this in the help.

Check out the solution that Linda559 found in the thread titled "Uncontrolled Scroll" to see if it also works for the Magic Lasso problem.
