Rotating Marching Ants without Image rotating?

Is there a way to rotate the selection with the rect marquee (the marching ants) without rotating the image under it?

I would like to use this to highlight an area of a photo by putting a rotated frame around it without rotating the image inside the frame itself.

Thanks in advance for your help!

hello, I ususally create a 'levels' adjustment layer above...just to get the mask...click Ok without changing anyhting in the levels dialogue box. You can make a selection, move/distort any way you wish ( without getting that dreaded ' you can't do that...no pixels selected'''error while trying to do this on an empty layer) ...just transfer the selection to the layer you need it on then trash the levels adjustment layer afterwards. Also works with an overlay 50%grey fill layer.

I do this alot because i use the selection tools as guides for my image...I can transform a selection to any angle i need without disrupting my image below...then i just transfer the selection to my image to get the job done right.

Thanks, Jodi! I knew there had to be a work-around. I am finding more and more uses for the "layer mask" that is missing in Elements.
You sure have a great working knowledge of the digital process!

Thanks again!

Send a message via AIM to Grant
Transform Select that is available as a free add on will also do the job.

Thanks a bunch, Grant! That does exactly what I needed and I also like the alignment tools. I have used similar in some graphic programs and it really speeds up work to be able to align ohotos, typeetc.
I've got to study the channels and curvrs to get used to them. By the time I get up to speed with all these Element addins etc I will be ready for a full blown Photoshop except for the money aspect.
