Watch folders not auto importing

Lately for some reason when I save new pictures into any of my watch folders organizer isn't automatically pulling them in. I have to go & import them, if I notice it hasn't imported them. Any ideas why it would stop watching my watch folders?

That's very odd, Julia. If you have relocated a folder that might happen.

Have you tried adding the folder to the watched folders again?

Have you got the automatically add files check box ticked in the watched folders dialogue box?

I am not sure if the Organizer will add files that are in sub folders. I have just tried it with mine (in PSE8) and it doesn't.

I am sure some others who use the Organizer more than I do will have more ideas.

I have it selected to notify me when there are new files and ask if I want to add them. It will do subfolders but seems to have stopped watching. I'll try removing & adding it back.

Hi Julia,

Here is some information on the Watched Folders feature in PSE. Towards the bottom of the page there are some troubleshooting suggestions.

Watch folder (Windows only feature of PSE)

Hope this helps!

The Adobe Active File Monitor V11 service wasn't starting.

I was suspicious the Adobe Active File Monitor service was the culprit. When someone reports a problem with the Watch Folders feature, the Organizer experts usually suggest checking this service first. It is the prime suspect.

When I went to look at the list of watch folders it told me I had to start the service first. Not sure why it wasn't automatically starting. It let me start it but I haven't restarted my computer yet to see if it will start automatically next time.

It's working fine now. The service is automatically starting like it should.
