Full Catalog Backup
Help Please,
When I backup my full catalog to an external hard drive, are Albums and tags for each photo included in the backup? Will all of this information be included in a restore? Thanks, John |

If you do the backup through Photoshop Elements, Albums and tags should be included.

Thanks, I was hoping that was the case.

The use of that word 'should' bothers me a bit, Sargenta1. Are there avoidable circumstances where the tags might not backup?

Tags are always included when you select File->Backup Catalog.

Too many years of having computers and software not performing the way we expect lead me to avoid terms like "always"
![]() I should have said something like "it is designed to" backup the tags, etc.

Thanks for the input. On a related matter, what are your opinions on using the Photoshop.com account to synchronize and backup files as opposed to other online backup services?

I have no opinion on any of the online backup services. I do my own backups weekly onto a 1TB EHD. I like to be in control and can't see paying for an online backup service when EHD's are so inexpensive.

I use both internal and external (USB) hard drives for backup, as well as Carbonite. I use an online backup in case something happens at my house (fire, flood, theft, etc.). I like Carbonite as it backs all my data up and runs non-intrusively in the background.
