Emergency printer problem!!!
Hello all,
Gotta get some help.....quick! I am trying to print some small pictures of the children in our church and it is not working! I edited and cropped the files to 3" x 3" in PSE 9 then saved them to a folder. When I tried to print them with my Epson 1280 on matte paper, paper size 5" x 7", the prints come out 4.75" x 4.75". The size I need should be no larger than 4" x 4" to be able to fit on a Christmas Tree ornament. I am really stumped and they are to be delivered tonight to the kids! If anyone has insight to this problem or a solution, I will owe you BIG TIME!!!!! Thank you! |

In the print menu where it says print size make sure you see 3x3" there and not something else. Or select custom size and put the size you want in. My guess is that you have 5x7 there which is not the print size you want (that's the paper size). The preview should show the correct size on the paper

I think I figured it out to some extent and can now print smaller sized prints, not by changing cropping dimensions but by changing the paper size to 4x6 and by checking the Reduce/Enlarge box on the layout page and changing the paper size also to 4x6. The print still comes out larger than 3x3 that I cropped it at in PSE. Closer to 4x4 but can use that size. I really do not understand how to manipulate all of the controls easily. There is, I am sure, a simple solution to this. Not there yet!

Follow up
In the Printer dialog box, "Layout", there is a custom adjustment to either enlarge or reduce the image size in relation to the paper size. This is what I used to reduce the size of the image to be printed, dropping it down to 75% from 100% and that reduced the size of the square picture, cropped in PSE, to 3"x3".
Thank you again, Tony, for the needed help. The "Custom Size" adjustment did the trick! I just got all the little pics done in the nick of time! Here are a couple of the little cuties! |
