draw a circle
Hi there,
i'm wondering how to draw a circle outline... i've read through past posts, but just can't figure it out. is there no outline tool? i can create a circle shape with the shapes tool, but don't want it filled in. also, is it possible to create multiple shapes on one layer?' thanks |

Arinna,
You can move the shapes with the Move tool You can combine several shapes on to one layer by merging the separate shape layers

Create THE chosen (Shape) FIRST! 1- Ctrl+Click on THE layer Icon (In the pallet panel on right) YOU SHOULD SEE MARCHING ANTS ON THE CIRCLE 2- Make A New Layer 3- Click on THAT empty Layer Icon (In panel on right) 4- Now go to EDIT (top) and Stroke OUTLINE Selection 5- Turn off Eyeball on Shape Layer (Or just right-click Delete it)

There are SO many ways to do one thing -- that's why I love Photoshop Elements!
Yes, the way Ken shared is the way I would have first told you too. He did leave out an important instruction and that is to make sure you are on a new layer when you do the stroke. ojisplayin also shared another way. Basically, he is sharing that you can make a selection (marching ants) with any shape. The marquee tool that Ken told you to use is also making a selection (marching ants). So if you hold down your control key and click on the thumbnail of the layer (not the layer itself, but the little image in the layer), you will get a selection of the shape of whatever is on that layer. Then you can make a new layer and apply the stroke. Another way you can do it with the shape tool is to make your shape, then choose "visibility" in the layer styles and choose the layer style for showing no visibility. Then add a stroke layer style to the layer. SO many ways...
