Triple mouse pointer

I've seen several video tutorials for Elements 8 and everyone has a normal mouse pointer. When I use Elements 8 my mouse pointer turns into a small triple pointer. There are 3 small pointers instead of 1. Is this normal?

Hi knowgoodnews,

No, it's not normal. Do you have Windows 7? This problem with the mouse pointer has been reported when running PSE7 or 8 on Windows 7. This should fix it:

Go to Start>Control Panel>Appearance and Personalization>Display>Make text and other items larger or smaller> Change the text size to 125% or 100%.

Exclamation Triple Mouse Pointer

I am working on a friends computer which has the same problem of a triple mouse pointer but they already had the text size set to 125% or the highest available setting and it still had the problem.

Any ideas of how to fix it??

I have already tried to change the resolution of the laptop screen and also have uninstalled the program and reinstalled it without any luck at correcting the pointer. Have installed the program on an XP machine and it works just fine.

The version on their computer is Adobe Photoshop Elements 8 running on Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit edition

Hi, welcome aboard!

This is a bug when running PSE7/8 on Windows 7. It can be fixed by reducing the text size to less than 150%. If your friend still has the cursor problem at 125% he/she may want to go to 100%. However, depending on the screen resolution this can make the text hard to read. So why not try a custom size, e.g. 124%, 120%? You could experiment with different sizes to see what happens. To set a custom text size go to Control Panel>. . .>Display and on the left panel click on "Set Custom Size (DPI)". Then just follow the instructions.

For more information on this check these recommendations by John Rellis:

Setting the Windows text size too large

I also had this problem with pse version 6. Thank you for the advice, it works fine now.

Hi thetrellan, welcome aboard!

You are most welcome! Glad to hear it worked for you.

On a side note -- You can just reduce the Windows text size to 149%; anything under 150% will do just fine.
