Saving tips and information

I get so much great information from both the forum and the video tips that I think will stick in my mind forever. Doesn't happen - then I spend a lot of time finding and reviewing the information.

The solution I came up with might be worth passing on.

Create a Word document and save as PSE Forum Info. Then when someone on the forum offers a way to do something, even if I don't need that information at the moment, I select the info, copy and paste into the Word document. I highlight, bold and enlarge that portion of the info that would identify it when I go looking for info.

Similar process for info from the video tips - I stop the video and go to the PSE Member Tips document I created in Word and write a brief step by step.

Now I only have 2 documents in one folder to search for information that I want to review.

Example from my PSE Member Tips Word Document:

From Matt K’s Video on Keystroke Shortcuts

1.Open an image – dbl click in gray area and select from open dialog box.
2.Only if the image is not maximized – you will see a title bar – right click on title bar for resize, duplicate and other choices
3.Zoom an image Ctrl + zooms in Ctrl – zooms out
4.Ctrl Alt 0 will get you back to 100%
5.Holding down Spacebar will enable moving within enlarged image
6.Ctrl R – toggles rulers on and off
7.Options Bar – right click on image and options for selected tool will appear

Mary,

Its a really good idea keeping thing that way.

I too keep a file for hints and tips ... and have to admit that I often use it to answer questions here. I can simply look up the info then use cut and paste to give a quick answer.

Mary, great idea! If your file starts to get long, you can use the Find function (Edit>Find or Ctrl-F) to help locate that missing tip.

The great thing about getting older is you do forget and life becomes a learning and leaning and leaning experience. I am to the point that I can now hide my own Easter Eggs.
