Magic Extractor problem - PSE6

Not sure why Magic Extractor is not showing a preview of extraction.

Photoshop Elements 6

Here's what I'm doing:

1. Photo in ME window.
2. Foreground color (default color - red) all areas of picture to keep.
3. Background color (default color - blue) all areas to delete.
4. Click preview button...nothing happens. If I click it again then they only thing that shows are the foreground and background paint dots/squiggles on the selected background (i.e. white, matte, etc).

What am I not doing correctly.

Thanks for your help.
