New Years Fun and Challenge

Well, it's time to step up for the Baby Picture Challenge. Your mission is to select a photo from your youth, let's say 10 years old or younger, and select a recent photo, say within the last 12 months. Edit the photos to be no larger than 300 pixels on the longest dimension. Save as gif or jpg.

We'll agree to a deadline by which photos must be submitted and I will post all submissions on a website at which you can match the baby picture to the recent picture.

Let's get started. Let's establish a few deadlines and rules. Share your opinions here and I'll consolidate the results. You've got until Sunday to get me your feedback, we'll publish rules Monday and get started. Fair?

My questions:

1. How long do we want to give people to submit photos?
2. How long to vote?
3. How many times can someone vote?
4. Do we want a prize?
5. No nudity! That's for you Wendy, I've seen some of your work...
6. Any other thoughts?

My goal is to mix the pictures randomly and allow you to match numbered baby pictures to lettered adult pictures. I'll need a week or so to put a prototype together and I plan to do that during the submition window.

I'm really looking forward to this!

I found a b&w photo of me about 2 and have a recent one. I'm ready except on how to send or post two at once. Duh. (I'm still learning how to use a computer.)

Yes, the idea is you WILL NOT POST your pictures here or make them available to me here. I'll post an email address to which you can submit them OR arrange for you to send me a link to the picture on the web. Actually, I'd prefer you sending me pictures.

I'll then jumble the images in a random manner and make them available on a web site. I plan to use HTML forms to allow for posting our "votes."

I am WAY new here so I can totally understand if my vote doesn't count but would love to participate as a new PSE4 user and member to the group.

I don't know what you mean about the 300 pixels part though. (See what I mean by new?)

Once you have a picture in elements just have a look at the image size.
Just make sure pixels are selected as the unit.

Just go to Image>Resize>Image size ..don't change anything .. just look.

It will more than likely be too big. Your best bet is probably to use "save for web" in the file menu. Just make you longest side to 300 pixels and the rest is pretty much done. Just make sure to hit apply after changing the size (I forgot a few times and couldn't figure out why my pictures didn't shrink)

if you are doing random then people may be able to add photos later so submission shouldn't be a problem (but yes a week to start it off)
Voting ... not too long or people lose interest (a week?)
Got to be one vote
Prizes ... gets too complicate is we try to do that
Nudity ... come on let me ... but only on the baby photos!!
