Collage
Is there a way of making a photo collage? I can only find a way of putting 4 photo's on a page.

Tom,
Create a new image ... I tend to make it A4 size and 300 pix per inch. Then open up an image, drag and drop it onto your new image (you may need to use the move tool to resize it) ... simply do that to add each new image to your collage. You can also add clip art, post it notes ... anything else you like. Wendy |

When I try to drag and drop an image from the opened images at the bottom of the workspace, it just switches to that image. What am I doing wrong??
Thanks. |

Perhaps you're using the wrong tool. (I tried the hand at first and that won't work.) Use the crossed arrows that look like a plus sign. That should drag a copy of the image on to the new canvas as a new layer. BTW, when you do this, resize your image to the same ppi as the blank canvas or it will appear smaller or larger than you expect. I'm not sure, but so far I have not found a way to resize just one image layer after dropping on the new canvas, so I always do it first. Good luck!

It is the move tool (and aberfield described it perfectly) that you need to use to drag something from one image to another ... but if you are having problems with it then try doing Edit>Copy from one image and then Edit>Paste into the other
![]() Now once you have the new layer in your image if you need to resize then just select the move tool again, make sure you have ticked the box at the top which lets the bounding box show. Click on the layer you want to resize and the bounding box will appear ... click on one of the bounding box corners and you will then be able to resize it. Wendy |

Thank you both for your input - things are going better now. I guess I needed to NOT have the images maximized in order to drag a copy of one image into another. The copy and paste technique works too.
Any more collage tips to share? Let's keep this going! |

I do quite a few collages and for the background I use a cork pattern with a frame round it ... that way it looks like photos on a notice board. I also add drawing pins, drop shadows, post it notes and bits of clip art.
They are nice to do for friends for special occasions ... say after a party. Wendy |

Collages
I need some help!! I need some VERY simple instructions on how to do a collage, or maybe a book that would have the instructions in "thick-headed people" terms.....
Can anyone out there help me? Thanks Teresa |

Hi Teresa,
Both of Scott Kelby's books have tutorials, also this one in the free area may help: http://www.photoshopelementsuser.com...otolayers2.php Plus there are some useful tutorials in the Scrapbooking section of the Subscriber Area. Mike |

I would also like to suggest Linda Sattgast's site -
http://www.scrappersguide.com/ She is a contributor to our newsletters and I learned SO MUCH from her cd's and her site. Good luck - you are embarking on a great journey!
