photo assignment #11

OK here we go on a new round of photo assignments.

First of all thanks to Will for leading us through the first round. Thanks also to all who offered suggestions for this round … I’ll try to incorporate all of your ideas over the course of the next 10 weeks. One difference in this round is that by popular request photoshopped entries will be welcomed.

Just to get us out of the blocks with an nice easy one, this week’s theme is a hat. Maybe the New Year celebrations will provide the perfect subject! Entries should be posted by Saturday, January 7.



One last suggestion to make this thread more manageable to view, please post only your entries in this thread. Post your comments in the accompanying ‘comment’ thread.

For my first attempt at this, I chose the very sweetest of hats ....




Canon G5, on auto all the way. Used my very amateur studio corner, not natural light or flash - used PSE for levels and to lighten the background.

This is the first photo assignment I've ever done! It's so exciting!!! Here's one of my daughter's coaches wearing a tutu for a hat (they had a wild and wacky day)!

This was fun. Weather was so lousy that I dropped into the local museum and shot this in natural light (no power, no lights ). Forgot part of my tripod so had to use the baby tripod on the floor and shoot up. Exposure was 1.2 secs at f4.2 and ISO 200. Fortunately I didn't have a lot of trouble getting her to stand still . PSE'd out an obtrusive corner of the ceiling and did a level adjustment to brighten her up a bit.

Little Brother manages to get Big Brother to loan him his favorite Christmas present. It should be noted that Big Brother has removed the helmet for about 10 minutes total since he opened it a couple weeks ago...
