Background eraser

While I'm waiting for my PSE 3.0 book and DVD to arrive, can someone point me to a good source of information on how to use the background eraser? I can't get it to consistantly do what I want. Thanks

Glad to be of help ...

I have to admit that I don't find the background eraser the most useful tool for removing backgrounds as it only works really well if there is a good colour contrast between the two areas. Usually I tend to go with a combination of the magic wand tool and the lasso.

Me too Wendy. I never could get the background eraser to work as well as the selection tools.

Great post. I'm just not completely sure that I'm understanding the depth to this. Can anybody explain this out a little bit more?
