The week before Christmas Challenge is usually a non festive challenge and in this way we hopefully don't get all spirited out. This Challenge is all about were old computers go both PC and Macs and is submitted by Tony White. So ladies and gentle men start your mice.

Since my hard disk failure I have had some wonder Challenges
suggestions submitted by a few people . I need more suggestions from more
people to be able to mix up the choices. Please send me *your*
suggestions for the Challenges. Part of what makes the Challenge great
is your input. Also please don't forget he Photo Challenge as
presently I have only one suggestion although it is a great one but I do
need more.

* Important notice to all the new people in this forum. This is not a
close shop you are all invited to submit an image. If you don't think you
are good enough this is your first mistake, I think most have found that
working on the Challenge has improved their personal level. So young and
old, hot shots and cool dudes now is you time to post.

Alex ... Oh that really is good .. I love the way you have the head moving. Well done!! ... and I like the way you have done the magazine cover ... it fits in well.

Barbara ... Wow what a stunning image No 1 is ... the sheer complexity of it is amazing. No 2 really made me smile ... its title should be keeping your eye on the G5 No 3 & 4 are just so good ... I love the way you do such complex images that have the look of silk. It is a wonderful effect

Ben ... Nice one ... I like the use of the overlay.

Bob ... How did you do that ? ... its a great background effect and the use of the neon wires really pulls the whole effec together. I do like the way you have recreated part of the image in No 2 ... and that background face is quite haunting. Its very well done.

Butch ... Oh very well done. Excellent fire and smoke effects and good weather effects too.

Chris ... How did you get the colour effects on the main figure ... its really well done ... and neat effects in No 2 & 3

Dave ... Nice work on moving it to a new background ... and the animations is really good

Malcolm ... My husband has most of the Asimov books but I think that your version is better than the original !!

Marilyn ... I really like the background you have used for your No 1... it looks great. No 2 is so well done ... I just wish that I could use the smudge tool to make such a good effect !!

Robin ... Really nice image in No 1 !!. how did you get that flames overlay effect?? ... and well extracted in No 2 its a good effect.

Tab ... Nice effect in both of them, just right for the season and what an original frame you made for No 1.

Tawana ... Nice work on the main image and that gradient background just finishes it off ...

Terri ... Beautifully blended ... its hard to see where one finishes and the other starts. Very nice work. ... and what stunning colours in No 2. How did you get it to look like that??

Terry ... Stunning textures and colours. How did you do it? No 2 is so different ... and it makes a great pattern.

Tom ... Oh that is good .. the just about to burst into flames effect is excellent and those sparks are great. How did you do them? ... and nice wood effect in No 2 ... reminds me of Steve Caplin's work.

Tony ... Nice work on your image ... its all really well blended together and the use of the tomatoes did make me smile

Ward ... I like that. All the old things we have been discussing brought together in your Challenge image. Well done! No 2 makes a strong image I like the way you have used small parts to make it ... the small touches of colour pull it together very well.

Wendy: Great comments as always and I really like yours - especially #2 with the wings. Where did you get those from?

I had a tough time time doing this weeks challenge - it does seem to be more difficult when it's ones own image you're working on for some reason. I was also experimenting with curves for the first time and am still trying to figure out how they work. One small tweak and the colours all changed. Going to have to read up some more. Made lots of attempts on the eyes, nothing worked right and I finished up hiding the mess I'd made with those tomatoes

BTW I took the picture at the Eden Project in October. Don't know if it was there when you visited but it's called the WEEE man and is an installation made from the amount (3.3 tonnes) of waste electronic and electrical products that the average UK citizen throws away in a lifetime.

Oh I do agree about it being hard when the image is your own ... for that reason I really don't like it when my images are used

I didn't realise that you took it at the Eden project ... it must be a new one as it certainly wasn't there when I last visited ... it looks fantastic!!

The dragon wings ... now I made them a while ago and have used them for all sorts of different things. They seem to work quite well as background fill ins Here is a link to the tut:

Thanks Wendy for the link - I'll have to try that tut - even though I'm hopeless at drawing I might manage a basic wing

I think the WEEE man started in London and got moved to the Eden Project in July - look at the bottom of the picture and you can just see the domes in the background.

Well Wendy, I'm busted!! I did this weeks challenge in Painter!! I have neglected the program and flipped through one of my painter books for ideas. It's using the 'fur' brush. Pretty cool. While working on the original I just had it screen size and didn't realize how cool it looked until I enlarged it, which is why I put in the second image with just the head so you could see the effect!

Last night I ended up ordering the manual for Painter from Corel. I find the books I have don't give you the basics and I really need to learn the basics to be able to do all the cool stuff like I can do in elements. So after the new year I am going to try and make myself really work at it and perhaps do one challenge in each program.
