Photoshop Elements 3 style file bad or corrupt

After a disk reformat on a Toshiba tablet I reinstalled PS Elements 3 only to find it says "this style file bad or corrupt" on start up of program. I've tried reparing plus uninstall and reinstall but the problem is still there. I installed it on another computer just to see what happened and it worked OK so I'm at a bit of a loss to know what to try next.

After posting the above I found some info on this site that looked helpful such as deleting preferences (this made no change to the problem). Secondly, there was a suggestion about deleting files in Documents & Settings\username\Application Data. To my suprise there was no Application Data folder. I checked the other computer I tried installing it on and yes Application Data existed. I then tried to create an Application Data folder on the problem tablet only to have a message saying it already existed - but it doesn't (a search didn't find it either). The working system is on a laptop running XP Pofessional and the tablet is running XP tablet edition 2005 V 2002 with SP3. The tablet is set up so there is no log in (not sure if that is importnant).

Any help would be greatly appreciated

How to solve the bad or corrupted style files error

This assumes you are using Photoshop Elements with windows XP

1 make a new user account with administrator priviledges and call it "Dog"
2 run Photoshop Elements from the desktop icon in the Dog user account. it should open and work fine. Close PE.
3 Search for the folder in the Dog user file Application Data/Adobe/Photoshop Elements/3(or whatever version)/Editor.
4 Copy the entire Editor folder to a flash drive.
5 log out of dog and log into the user profile that you normally would use for photoshop elements.
6 Locate the Application Data/Adobe/Photoshop Elements/..../Editor file in this profile and remove the editor file(put it on the desktop until you are confident of deleting it)
7 Replace the Editor file with the one on your flash drive.
8 Open Photoshop elements from the desktop icon and it should load as it used to.
9 delete the Editor file that you put on the desktop.

It worked for me so I hope it helps
