Converting Videos
I want to try converting some vhs tapes to digital and try to enhance them. My problem is my laptop only has a USB 1.1 port and I want to convert it to a USB 2.0 port as my converter I am using must have a USB 2.0 connection. I know I just need to get a USB 2.0 adapter to plug into my laptop but I am looking for a recomendation on a good reliable manufacturer.
Can anyone help with a recomendation? Thanks for all your help Tom |

If you do a Google search on "cardbus usb 2 adapter" you'll get tons of options but something like this from Adaptec is what you're probably looking for:

I just did the same thing. I took the VHS tape and converted it to DVD with a Go Video VCR that has both DVD and VHS. I then took the video from the DVD and read it into PE2. Now comes the problems of how to edit the clips.

Not sure if you got one yet, but I bought an "iogear 2-in-1 4 port cardbus card" (model # GUF202) for this. It has 2 of the 2.0 USB ports, as well as a firwire port and a ieee (?) port. It plugs into the PC-card slot of your laptop, and it worked perfectly for me from day one, a very worthwhile purchase just for the fact that you can plug 2.0 compatible items into it.

Another option is if you are using Windows OS, Windows Movie Maker--free pgm included with Windows XP, captures analog video from your VCR. Works great too. Lyn
