max performance

I would like to purchase a new computer (either MAC or VISTA). To get maximum performance from PSE 7 and Premier Elements 7 what is my best choice of hardware configuration? Cost is not an issue. I currently use Windows XP. I commonly create slide shows of 500 pictures and 45 minutes long.
