Question Photoshop Elements 7

I just bought PSE7 and when I try to save a photo in JPEG format it give me an option of JPEG2000. So I save it in that format but when I go to open the photograph it tells me it tells me it's not able to open it. Am I doing something wrong? I usually shoot in RAW and then convert it in photoshop. Am I missing a step somewhere? Please advise.

The issue you've run into is that the RAW files are likely 16 bit. You can save those in JPEG2000 but not regular JPEG. If you want to save a regular JPEG then you'll need to convert to 8 bit (it's under Image>Mode in Elements) - then when you go to save, regular JPEG will be an available option.
