Need help with Adobe photoshop elements 7

Hi All,

Could someone experienced with photoshop give me some advice on:

1, How to change photo background to a different but solid color?
2, How to crop the photo to 2inch by 2inch, and is 600 pixels in
height and with?

I read some stuff online, but still couldn't do it

Thank you very much for your time.

Best Regards,
Jennifer Chao

Jennifer,

1. Open the layers palette
2. For the purpose of this drill, I opened a new, blank layer, color white. You can see this as the background layer
3. I duplicated this layer, worked on background copy layer. Using the foreground color chip, I selected red. Went to Edit>fill layer>foreground color
4. I made a circular selection on this layer with with the elliptical marquee tool, holding down the shift key to obtain the circle.
5. Changed foreground color to green. Went to edit>fill selection>foreground color
6. Duplicated this layer , working on Background copy 2 layer.
The magic wand tool works very well in order to make a selection when there is a uniform background. I used this tool to make a selection of the background. Set foreground color chip to blue, then Edit>fill selection>foreground color.
7. If the background is busy with things other than a uniform color, then other selection tools work better.

In order to size a file, Image>resize>image size brings up a dialog where you can enter the parameters. For printing, I like to show the document size in inches. 240-300 px/in usually is satisfactory resolution in order to obtain a decent print.

The crop tool permits one to define height&width, and resolution as well.

If you will post your picture, we can make specific suggestions for your purpose, You can do it (free) at www.pixentral.com. Paste the address as I have above.

HTH
