Unhappy Error message - PhotoShop 8

I have PhotoShop Elem. 6 that I use, and I left PhotoShop Elem.4 on my computer for my granddaughter to use. Yesterday she selected a photo, and clicked on Edit. Then she chose, Standard Edit. This message popped up....
Adobe PhotoShop 8 does not run under this version of the operating system. Please check the package minimun requirements for the operating system level necessary for this software.
We cannot get into the standard edit. We do not have PhotoShop 8. What can I do to fix this???

I do not have the answer to your problem, but I did find this topic being looked at in the Photoshop Elements User to User Technical Section over at Adobe:

http://www.adobeforums.com/webx/.59b6b9d2

You may want to follow that topic through the above link to see if they get to a solution. I will continue to look for an answer for you.

Just an after thought...are both versions 6 and 4 on the same computer? What operating system is involved? Windows XP or Vista, PC or Mac?

Any upgrades in Service Packs lately?

Does your system have that System Restore feature and has it been on? If so, have you tried a System Restore to a time when you knew that Photoshop Elements 4 was functioning properly?

Yes they are on the same computer. The system is Windows XP.
I haven't done any upgrades of service packs lately.
Did not think of system restore, I'll look into that.
Thanks.
