Talking Notch effect for audio

I have a leaf blower in my audio track. I have tried all kinds of frequencies to remove from 10 to the thousands. Nothing has made any difference. First I have been dragging the notch effect onto the sound track, then in the properties window, I check the bypass box, then select the frequency to bypass, then hit enter, and nothing seems changed.

I noticed that there are seveal notch options, I am assuming that those are for the additional sound tracks as needed.

Last question: What is that Q slider control for also? Maybe that's what I am supposed to use?

I guess I'm confused. Any chance of a tutorial on this subject? I know it sounds advanced, but hums and background noise are a big problem with home movies, aren't they?

Thanks so much! Love the tutorials! I have signed up for the paid series of lessons. I'm learning so much!
I just can't get this feature working.

Hi Lyn,

Sound can be a major pain, when you are trying to get rid of it, and PRE is not designed to be a professional sound editing application. However if you could take about a 5 second clip, export it as a QT movie and send it to me I will see if I can play with it and get rid of the noise and send you the settings I used. It's very hard, well for me anyway to tell you what to do with the noise without hearing it.

If you can get me the clip, PM and I'll give you an addy to send it to, and I'll see what I can do and then let you know for future reference

Notch effect clip

Thanks so much! And I hope you had a nice vacation.

Great! I will get you the clip. Tell me how!

So...does the Notch effect work at all?

Last question: How can I get my email address from not being shown on the forum?

Lyn,

Just take a small sample and export it as a QT movie (30 seconds will be plenty) and email it to me I'll PM you my addy.

The reason your email address is showing is because that is what you have chosen as a username.

You will need to pick a different username to take care of that.

Do you get the clip?

I wasn't able to retrieve my PM from you, so I sent it to the email address I found by clicking your name. I was wondering if you got it alright. Thanks!

Lyn
