How clone/repair/replace part of picture?

I'm new to PSE 6 (MAC). All I want to do it copy/clone/replace some pixels over top a portion of something in my image/picture. In old PhotoShopDelux it was simple click repair old/damage-move circle over pixels I wanted & click/copy overtop unwanted. Now, I can find nothing in any help or the book. I'm so frustrated with everything about PSE6. Is this forum the right place? And if someone could get me started I'd be thankful.

I'm not sure if I'm understanding your question properly, and I've never used photoshop delux. But if you just want to clone over things here's how you do it.

First don't do it on the background in case you mess it up. Create a new layer first. If you hit command and J at the same time(command is the clover leaf thing or some keyboards have the apple icon on it) it will create a background copy layer.

Once your on the new layer go to your tools, and pick the one that looks like a stamp. That's the clone tool. On your picture put your cursor over whatever you want to copy. Once your over whatever you want to copy, hit the option key and hold it. Your cursor turns into a type of bullseye thing. Click that area, and that's what you'll be 'painting' with.

Real quick, I click command j and it added a layer, I think, but I could see only one...so if I like changes just save? and if I don't, what should I do?

If you don't see two layers in the layers palette, then it didn't take. Hold down command key. It has the clover leaf kind of thing on it, some keyboards also have the apple icon on that key also. It's either to the right or the left of the space bar. Hold that down and keep it down then press the J key. If that doesn't work you can also do it the long way.

Layer>Duplicate layer.

That's the beauty of layers. If you don't like what you did, you can just delete that layer and you still have the original untouched.

If you work on the original and you don't like it, you might be hosed. When you work on the original, you're messing with the original. You don't want to do that. But sometimes, depending what you actually did, you can un-do things. I think you can undo about 50 things or so. But I think there are some alterations that you can't un-do.

Always duplicate your background original first.

great advise - I finally found a layers thing on the bottom right (it was hidden!) You've been a big help & saved me hours of "ag".
I think it is time I walked away for a break & did some laundry & such. I'm sure well be talking again soon.
