Hi. I am working on a project where I need to delete a clip. First I highlight the clip, then "cut" it. When I right click the empty space, the ripple delete is grayed out. I have even tried going up to the edit menu but that doesnt work either. I know I have done this before, but it wont work now. What can I do??

Hi,
Sorry, I'm on vacation and just now saw your post. When you click in the empty space are you able to just hit delete on your keyboard to remove the space? I don't have my laptop with me to check your problem, but if you have audio under the clip you are trying to delete that will keep you from deleting so it doesn't throw everything out of sync. Also if you have a title or something composited on the timeline above that area it will do the same thing, again to keep things from getting out of sync. |

i have the same problem frequently and i can't detect a pattern for it.
i created a video of stills with music. sometimes when i CLEAR a clip and create a gap, i can DELETE AND CLOSE GAP and the stills all shift left, without any changes to the audio. Other times the DELETE AND CLOSE GAP option is grayed out. my audio and video are NOT linked. i also notice that if i have a gap in my audio, DELETE AND CLOSE GAP is never enabled. any ideas why? what are the conditions under which DELETE AND CLOSE GAP is not allowed? |
