Auto Process of Files for converting raw to JPEG

I may be a little slow at times but just yesterday after using PSE 5 for over a year I found a neat trick. I was wondering if anyone uses this as well?

I shoot in Raw Format for most photography shoots. Well, I did the Raw + JPEG in camera for a long while, but it takes up a lot of space on the Memory Cards, and results out of camera for the JPEGS were not always right on. To make a long story short, I have been shooting a lot of raw pictures of late and the chore of manually doing each picture from ACR Raw to JPEG has became a drag. I finally looked at batch conversion and wow..that really saves time plus the ACR Auto conversion using some of the options in the conversion menu get better results in JPEG for me using this method. You can select the folder you want pictures to convert from and then another folder to place the finished JPEGS. Take a break and come back to your pictures with finished folder of JPEGS.

I did not search for a tutorial on this but if it is a needed tutorial, some one let me know and I will attempt to write one up. I am not a pro though and not do near as well as the great tutorials I have read in this Forum... Just thought it was such a great time saver and works so well for me, I wanted to share this experience with others.

Not really to answer your question but if you are shooting RAW and then looking to batch process them in Elements, why not shoot in JPEG in the first case. In many cameras you can affect the JPEG processing parameters but you'll loose many of the benefits of RAW.

All you're doing is swapping in Camera processing for Elements Processing which, while the results may be good, is perhaps not as good as processing the RAW files personally. Auto processing can give good results but some images will still not be right. Processing them yourself gives a better hit rate.

RAW does really mean an investment in time and products like Adobe's Lightroom out perform Elements for RAW processing.

Thanks for the reply Colin. I used to shoot all JPEG since I was not an accomplished photographer using digital. (I am still not real good ) Since my first DSLR several years ago, I experimented somewhat for several years. I found in order to get the results I wanted, that out of camera JPEGs were OK but Raw suited me better for a final picture for most subjects, with higher yields of keepers. In the grand scheme of things it probably does not matter much in my case since none are destined for sale or publishing. It is just a hobby for me.... I do appreciate your time and comment however.
