Very Basic Question

Hi - I have a *very* basic scrapbook question. I assume that when you print a page out you use photo paper right? Is buying the paper a big expense of digital scrapbooking? I guess doing digital scrapbooks is also an ink hog right? Thanks for humoring me.

Hi fellow scrapper
When I print out my pages I use a matte photo paper - it takes less ink and I prefer that look. I don't always print out a full page - just take elements I have printed and add regular scrapbook items to a cardstock sheet.

I also like printed 8 x 8 albums which I can do with 8 1/2 x 11 paper and cut them down to fit that size of sheet protectors.

I did even smaller albums for my brother and sister of our growing up pictures and they really liked them - in that case I got 2 album pages to one 8 1/2 x 11 sheet.

What do you like the most so far of scrapbooking? Let us know if we can help.

Not Yet Started

Mary - Thanks for writing. I haven't yet started digital scrapbooking. I'm thinking of maybe doing a combo of PE 3 and scrapbooking software since I'm not too imaginative. I'm just "thinking it through" and checking out my options.

When you say that you take what you have printed and add scrapbook items to the cardstock sheet are you saying that you print say the photo and then go to a craft store to buy the other supplies to make the page?

Thanks for your time.

My printer will print on 12x12 cardstock. I don't print that way too often since I prefer 8x8 but once in a great while there is one special page that I want in my big album. I just use white or off-white cardstock and choose printing options for matte finish paper. Works like a charm.

Good Morning niagara94
I do combine scrapbooking supplies from the stores (I accumulated a lot of brads, ribbons, stickers etc) with things that I create in PSE 3.

All the pictures I take are digital so I use PSE to correct and size those as well as I scan slides and negatives of our old pictures in PSE.

Do visit some of the sites that are in the helpful links section of this forum and do some of the tutorials you will find there as well as here.

I invested in a digital scrapbooking cd by Linda Sattgast.

There will soon be one offered for sale here by Matt.

Let us know how you are doing - it is a lot of fun.
