Happy mistakes

Wellllllllll.. we all spend a lot of time lamenting over our bad photos, usually due to some setting or two we forgot to change/check before pressing that ever so touchy shutter button.

I thought I would start a thread where we could post some of our mistakes, that for some strange reason, turned out to be kinda cool.
Maybe not award winning, but nifty to us in some sort of way.

I'm just starting to get an online sharing thing sort of set up. So I'm just trying this flickr link to see how it goes.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/2524921...n/photostream/

If there is enough interest or participation I will set up a comments thread similar to the challenges.

Well Gary, at first I was expecting something way out there, but when I saw your image, I was surprised. It actually looks rather nice, soft, kind of winter like painting. I would say that indeed this particular one is a "keeper" in its' own unique way. I like it.

Thanks Ric

I took a couple at that spot forgetting to check the meter. Checked the LCD on the second one and there were more blinkies than not.
I figured it was lost but I never delete.
Got home and opened it up and was pleasantly surprised.
Hindsight being 20/20, a tripod and a duplicate at the proper exposure turned into a line drawing and put over top would be a great finishing touch.
Oh well.

C'mon ..post one .. you gotta have something...lol

Sorry Gary, I don't have a mistake to show, though I have had many in my life. Actually I was looking through some 'Chromes from back in '92 of something I shot with the wrong settings, and I knew it the moment I tripped the shutter. Long story short, it turned out to be rather interesting and I told myself if I ever get the chance to print it that I would. Well...now I have to go through over 3100 chromes that I took that year...scan it...and print it...now where did that little guy go?

One happy mistake was back in my film days. A roll didn't fully rewind and I loaded it in again thinking it was a fresh roll. One of the double exposures actually won a prize in a contest!

Gary, that is indeed a very happy mistake. I doubt you could have gotten that effect if you had tried, or even thought of it. I guess that 's what makes it such a happy mistake. I really like it.

Thanks for the kudos ... I was really hoping to see some others though.

Laurie... I think you under estimate my ineptitude.

Gary - I think the problem with this thread was that, speaking for myself, most of my photography mistakes don't turn out to be either "happy" or "kinda cool!" As a matter of fact, most are downright embarrassing!

Some of my finest work yet!

I always liked this mistake of my cat, Angus. To me it says exactly what he is, a big snout. No need to click on the thumbnail, for this is it, only bigger!
