Help with video tips
Hi. I have installed Quick Time but am having difficulty accessing the video tips. When I click "View VIdeo" I get the popup window. There is a broken negative icon in the middle of the screen. AT the top, it says , "Photoshop Elements Techniques" Movie Tips (by Dave Cross) Quicktime movie will need to load before playing but it doesn't seem to be doing anything.
I have a dialup connection at home so I was hoping to download where I have a T1 connection and then save to take home and view. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Barb |

Barb,
I just wonder if you waited long enough ... when I used dial up it seems to take forever and there was no indication that anything was loading. Perhaps you just need to wait a while longer ![]() Regarding the broken negative icon ... not sure about that. The Quicktime blue icon should be there .... |

Not dialup
Hi Wendy.
I'm actually trying to download via T1 then hoped to save and view at home instead of trying to download via dialup. Its still just sitting there looking as though nothing is happening. -Barb |

Thanks again, Wendy. I did see that post and that will be good info once I can get the movie to download. I never get the slider to indicate progress. Does anyone have a url to one of the movies that I could try to open directly in Quick Time instead of in the broswer?

Barb,
The broken icon is to do with compatibility and Internet Explorer version 5.5 SP2 or later. This is most probably the reason why you can't play the movies. You can overcome this by downloading the latest version of QuickTime at http://www.apple.com/quicktime/. Hope this helps. Mike |

Thanks Mike. It seems you're on to something. I uninstalled QuickTime and downloaded a new zip. The website says that version 6.5.2 is compatible with Windows XP. That is the version of the stand-alone QuickTime that was installed but the plugin that is called when I hit the link for the movie is version 6.5.1 so I still get the broken icon.

Hi Mike.
I am running XP2... at home. My mistake in the previous message. I am having the problem with Quicktime at my office where the OS is Win 2000 - but that also requires the same version of QuickTime. I decided to be patient and try at home and was able to download and view the movies I was interested in. Thanks anyways! Barb |

Barb,
Sorry I couldn't resolve things completely for you, but at least you can now watch the videos. Mike |
