Printing Problem
I can't get the color correct on prints. It seems that dark areas come out red. The pictures were scanned into photoshop using an Epson 1670 and printed on an Epson 820. I've tried to follow what "Help" says to do but the results are the same. I have set "Full Color Management" and tried Print Space as "Same as Source", "Epson 820" or "Epson 1670". The lighter colors seem to be ok. Thanks for any help you can give.

Try not using any colour management. I tried both ways and the "ICM" way comes out lousy.

That's the same problem I was having until I calibrated my monitor with a colorimeter. After creating the correct profile for the monitor I then told windows to use this as the default printer profile with my Epson C82. I also work in 8bit/sRGB mode and make sure I output in sRGB mode because that's what most (I believe) printers recognize including Shutterfly.com where most of my work goes anyway.
Until I got the colorimeter I had to rely on Adobe Gamma to get the colors right. Since I shoot with Nikon all my images that I export into PSE3 are tagged with sRGB and I keep it that way the entire time I work and print my images. I use Colorvision's Photocal Spyder colorimeter. It made all the difference in the world. [This message has been edited by Foxhound (edited 11-10-2004).] |
