Would any talented and smart Lightroom user please send me an invite for LR 2.0 Beta so I can use it until August 31?

Just send me a PM and I'll give you my email address.

Thanks

Gene, thank you for the nice comment on my Gallery. We are heading to the coast tomorrow morning so hopefully I'll have some new photos up next week.

I sent you a PM.

Another invite??

I am just getting into digital photography and am trying to get a feel for PS's line of products.

I was ready to buy LR, but decided to do a quick search and found that a new version was coming out (THANKS ELEMENTS VILLAGE), so if anyone has an extra invite, I would appreciate it.

Also, a little clarification:

Leo Laporte of TWiT fame seems to believe that the only photo editing software a beginner needs is Lightroom.

Is that true, or should I buy Elements and LR, and does anyone know if a new version of Elements is expected within the year?

THANKS

rhummer, welcome to the best forum around. I have no idea who Leo is but Adobe Lightroom is a very powerful program. I would say that most experienced photographers use both Lightroom and Photoshop. Because you are new to the digital world and I assume digital editing I would buy Adobe Elements 6 (usually discounted to $60-$70) and use the trial version of Lightroom to see if the added expense is worth your while. Lightroom is a fantastic RAW editor but you can do the same adjustments in Elements. If you shoot only in JPEG format then the expense of lightroom is questionable. I really do not know your experience level in photography or in editing and photoshopping images. so it is hard to answer all your questions and concerns. I use Lightroom to catalog and keep track of all my photos. Others prefer Elements(Organizer) or photoshop (Bridge) or some third party software for this purpose. I am not exactly sure when the next update to elements is due but probably close to 9 months away. The added benifit of Elements or Photoshop is the much more detailed editing that you can do which Lightroom does not have those capabilities (Layers, selections, masks, etc, etc.) Any way send me a PM with your e-mail address and I'll send you a invite for the trial version of Lightroom Beta from Adobe. Hope this helps you out.
Eddie

Thanks for your input

Laporte is a technology personality who hosts a few different tech shows on the web. He accompanied a group of expert photographers on an expedition paid for by Adobe to write a how-to book for Lightroom 2.0

If you want more info he posted a summary of the trip on April 14 of his blog: http://leoville.com/category/blog/

I will check out the demo of Elements and another member has PMed me about LR beta, but Thanks

EDIT:

Correction: This page, http://www.adobe.com/trial_update/faq/ , says I am supposed to wait until July 1 for the trial of Elements

Bummer on the trial.

Looks like a programming error caused the foul up. You could check back and see if they fix it (I doubt it though) else you have to wait.

Rhummer37,

I'm still trying to get through on the LR 2.0 Beta Trial invite page for you. It has not worked all day. I will keep trying though!
