Removing thumbnail background

I'm very new at this so please be patient. How can you easily remove the background from clipart. I just want the symbol not the white border around it.

With the magic wand (and contiguous unchecked), click on any of the white which will select all the white. Then Ctrl-Shift-I to invert the selection, Ctrl-J to copy the selection to a new layer. You should then have your motif on its own layer with a transparent background.

Vintage Tutorial

Hello Bayla. I was looking through your Gallery and you have beautiful pictures - one especially you indicated that you followed "Timothy's Vintage Border" - can you please provide the link.

HERE is the link to Timothy's tutorial. There are a couple of different ones in the thread. The instructions are quite long - once I'd created a couple of borders I saved them as .png files.

Looking forward to seeing what you do with the instructions!

Am I right in thinking in Timothy's tutorial that in Step 4 selected map: schnable effect is just another copy of the image? This bit is unclear (well to me anyway)

When you click OK on the Displacement Map filter dialog box you then have to navigate to where the Schnable Effect Displacement map is found - for me it was C:>Program Files>Adobe>PSE6>Plugins>Displacement Maps.

Hope this helps.

Bayla

PS. Post #12 in Timothy's thread explains Step 4.

Strange. I have PSE3 on my computer as well, and I can find them by using the same pathway but going via PSE3 instead, so I'm sure they must be there in PSE5!
