Lightroom Playground: Week 12

The purpose of this weekly challenge is to encourage creative experimentation with Adobe Photoshop Lightroom. All Lightroom users are welcome to join in and for those who don't have Lightroom but wish to play, here is the link to the 30-day trial version.

Please make any adjustments you choose to the following image and post your results in this thread. Share how you processed the image and provide information on any develop presets used. All modifications on the image must be made in Lightroom with the exception of sharpening, noise reduction, and resizing. Matt Kloskowski's Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Killer Tips is a great source for Lightroom Develop presets.

************************************************** *******

My turn this week. Newbie so hope everything works - let me know if it doesn't.

And here's the link to the RAW file... http://www.sendspace.com/file/9jou7f

Have fun!

Nicole

Well here is my attempt at this very nice image. I cropped very tight as can be seen then worked my way down the develope module and did what I did. Added a frame in PSE and well here it is.

Eddie,
PS I wish Lightroom had a selection tool so I could selectively blur the background . Maybe I'll do that and post it in the comments thread. I posted the results below as you can see.

This is a super sharp image and it was fun to work with.

I took the exposure down somewhat and used the recovery slider. I boosted clarity and vibrance a bit, then lightened lights and darkened darks with the tone curve. I boosted yellow, green, magenta, and purple saturation in HSL. Lasy, I cropped a bit and rotated.

Thanks for posting it, Nicole!

Rob, I like that direct positive preset. Very vibrant.
Gary, how did you get the upper flower to look so transparent? How much snow have you had down your way?

Julie

Only a couple of inches overnight. Got over an inch while I was grocery shopping (11:00ish). The major snow is supposed to happen later today.
Heard the melodious tic tic tic of ice pellets a little while ago.

I don't think I made the top flower is transparent. I have feeling it was the luminance value of the purple or blue. Turned it down and that colour went greyish.
Strange thing is, I desaturated both the blue and purple to get the white, but the luminance sliders still affect the blue and purple that are not really showing.

Just returned from a trip to South Carolina - impressed the in-laws by getting up early to take sunrise pics. Came back down to earth with a thud at the sight of yet more Ontario snow - yuk. I shouldn't complain as I'm turning right back around and heading to Arizona for some hiking. After which I'll probably have so many images my iMac will explode.

Anyway I've really enjoyed seeing what you've all done with the week 12 image - I only just beginning to realize just how much can be done in Lightroom. Thanks for working on it.

And now I'll just hustle over to Week 13 to see what's up...
