Problem with the Red Eye Tool
When I use the red eye tool on blue eyes it works great but when I use it on brown eyes, it changes them to blue.
What else can I do? Thanks in advance! Elaine  |

You can recolour the eyes after removing the red eye. There is a good tutorial in Scott Kelby's PE3 book...
Remove the red eye using the Red Eye tool. Make a loose selection around both eyes using the Lasso tool. Hold SHIFT to make the second selection. Copy this to a new layer. Select Enhance > Adjust Color > Adust Hue Saturation. Move the Hue slider to select the colour you want. If the color is too strong you can adjust it later. Click OK to apply the colour. Select the Eraser tool (press E). Erase the areas of surplus color around the iris. If the colour is too strong, reduce the opacity of the eyes layer. I have used this several times to great effect. Hope this helps. Mike |

I don't tend to use the red eye tool at all. What I do is:
Select the red area plus a few pixels ... feather a little. Enhance>colour>hue & sat> ... select red from the edit box and reduce saturation to zero or thereabouts Enhance>Brightness & contrast>levels .. move the left hand marker in about a third of the way and move the centre marker over to the right until the area goes dark ... not too far or it will look artificial. Thank you Wendy for your response. I am copying them into my Word Perfect for review and to try.
I am also going to buy the book that Mike suggested. Scott Kelby. Elaine  |

Elaine,
I can recommend Scott Kelby's book - "The Photoshop Elements 3 book for digital photographers". It is full of straight forward tutorials that tell you exactly what to do, with short cuts, settings etc. Mike |
