Exclamation Can't open LR

I'm experiencing a major LR problem, every time I try to open LR room I'm getting the message ; "lightroom is experiencing a problem & must shut down...blah, blah , must shut down...do you wish to report this problem" This is every time I try to open it...anyone else ever have this?

Question

Rob, never had any problems with lightroom. Maybe at Adobe's support site they can help.

I went to the site, nothing there to help, live support is not open until Mon. The peculiar thing that happened was it asked me to register when I opened it tonight & I had already registered it. So when I hit ignore thats when the problem started

ok, this is weird. Instead of just clicking on LR to open... I went to my photos & clicked on one of my shots & selected "open with" now it's open but all of my photos are missing except for the ones that I imported from the first day I got LR.

& yes I did LR scheduled back-ups.

Question

All sounds weird to me. I was going to suggest to un-install LR then re-install and go thru the whole process. I had some thing similiar happen to me with PS-CS3 trail version for 30 days after the 30 day's ended.

Rob,

I've had these same things happen when I had another large program open, such as Elements. I also had my pictures on a small external drive which LR opened from C-Drive and this started giving me problems once the external drive started to fill up. It's like it doesn't have enough memory or drive space to open the files up. I have lots of RAM so it wasn't that.

Sorry, I'm not very techy to give you the proper teminology. Be careful -I began to actually lose files and I have folders on the external drive that I can no longer access but they are there. I don't think it's LR, it's our computer system IMHO.

Since I revamped with a 500G internal drive and bigger external drives (320G) I have not had any problems and have had LR open with Elements and full Photoshop without a problem.

Rob

I wonder if crl>alt>shift will work with LR as it does with PE and PS.

If things are really balled up, it might be worth a try.

Well it's back up, I went to where the back ups were kept & was able to restore all my photos. Now the slideshow is acting weird, for example if my photos were numbered it would play the slide show...1,2 then back to 1,2,3 then repeat 1,2,3,4 then back to 1. It was a frustrating night to say the least but at least I have all my photos. So remember when LR asks you to back up...do so

Thanks for the reminder, Rob. I ignored it three times yesterday.
