Sigma SD-14 DSLR Camera any good?
Some told me that Richard Lynch uses Sigma SD-14 camera and that this camera sensor is much more acurate and sofisticated than the CMOS used on Nikons and Canons.
What is the story? Comments and links welcome. |

The Sigma uses the Foveon chip which has been touted as the best for accurate color. On paper the Foveon chip sounds great, I don;t know anyone, personally, who shoots Sigma so I can't verify or deny their claims. Sigma is the only company to jump on the Foveon bandwagon so, you have to decide if the benefits of the Foveon chip make it worthwhile to go with the Sigma.
Nikon and Canon have excellent sensors and a huge variety of accessories and lenses available to fit their systems. You can go into nearly any camera store and find accessories and lenses to fit Canon and Nikon. Not nearly as many dealers carry Sigma. That does not mean you have to go with Canon or Nikon but, to just be aware of the limitations, if any, of going with the Sigma and your personal style of shooting. Do they offer the focal length lens you are interested in? Are you going to be doing alot of flash work? If so, does the Sigma flash system stack up to the Nikon or Canon, etc. In the end, you want to buy the camera and lenses that best suit your photographic style. |
