I have read that with this camera, if you use live view whilst in the manual setting you can view it at 10x magnification to aid focussing. I cannot find anything in the manual about it.Is it not true or if it is can anyone tell me how to do it. Thanks

I think with the 510 if you toggle the info button & look for the green magnification field.

Here is one of the best sites for Olympus owners http://www.wrotniak.net/photo/oly-e/index.html Mr. Wrotniak's technical reviews & customization tips are extremely helpful.

I was able to update my camera at Christmas from the E-300 and decided to go with the E-510. I haven't had a chance to really get down to finding out all the differences yet. I have to say I LOVE LOVE LOVE this camera.

I hadn't heard of this and got out my manual. And yip it sure does. You have to be in Manual Focus to do it and you can magnify 7x or 10x. I even got the camera out to try it. Pretty nifty. It explains how to do it on page 24 in the manual.

One other thing that I really like about the Live View is when you are in the manual settings and have it on. I was adjusting the shutter speed the other day and noticed the changes in the screen. So as you adjust the settings it adjust right there on the screen as well. I was a little amazed by that. Ask my hubby that overheard my conversation with myself as I was amused in watching the changes. hee hee.

I love this camera. I'm sooooo glad I upgraded to it.

Dear Both of you, Many thanks, I had a play and after realising that I have to press ok after getting to the green oblong it works. Nothing on page 24 of my handbook though ? I think I too will love this camera when I have got into it more. Will think about getting the macro lens in a while, how close does it focus? Best wishes Aud

Glad you figured it out. Thanks for pointing it out. I hadn't got a chance to really sit with the manual and camera yet to just play. I checked again and pg 24 in my manual under Enlarged Display Operation. I can't wait to get a day to just sit still and tinker and see what all is on this camera. I know I'm loving it! Oh that macro lens is AWESOME!! I love it soooo much. I have alot of pics on my blog I've used with it. I use that lens most ALL the time. I have been asked by alot of the seniors in our area to do some photos for them and they are all done with that lens. It is so sharp and wow. I wouldn't trade that lens for anything.
Best wishes hope you post some of your pics in the gallery. Not too many of us olympus users here.
Take care,
Tina

Had another look but nothing on p24 and no entry in the index, must have missed it out of the British version but no matter now I know how to do it. The 50mm macro costs £350 over here so will have to save up a bit yet! Oh, I love your 'Dracula' picture,it is brilliant. Best Wishes Aud

Thanks AUD my daughter loved that pic. We had alot of fun. She was a little scared when we actually went to the cemetary to take the photo. The tombstone is real. Alot think it's been ps'ed in but it's real. The rest is ps, the moon, clouds and fog. She couldn't wait to take that to school and show all her friends.

I scanned that page since it's not in yours so you could give it a read.
You can view it here.....

That lens is pretty pricey. But it is worth every dime!!!!! I don't regret spending it at all.
