Lightroom Wishlist

**Based on Scott Kelby's article on Photoshop Insider.**
I read Scott's list of what he wants next so I wanted to see what everyone here would like to see.
What do you want to see in Lightroom next?

Nothing yet? huh...I have a whole list but I did not want to throw it all out in one post Anyway...in the printing module; one click export to sites like Shutterfly or one click to near by printing locations. It would be so cool to just export them to you favorite printing location or printing site. I have an outdated printer.

A function to resize send images and send to your email program. I have a add-on that does it but it would be nice to have it built in...

Good idea Rob

I just haven't figured enough stuff out to know what it needs.

So far I'm not enamored with the file importing/exporting, but that could just be a difference between what the program does and what I think it should be doing.

Printing is kind of weird too. Yet when I see a video on the features it looks cool.

Organizing presets

First reaction, anyway--I seem to have downloaded every preset I can find, and have made a lot more, and altho I know there must be a better way to organize them I haven't had the patience to do much more than set up a few folders for some of the most-used. Much as I enjoy (and learn from) mousing down the array of presets to see what might happen to the target photo, sometimes I just want to find one specific preset and not bother about the others.

If anyone has any brilliant organizational ideas that will work on a Mac, I'd be delighted to try them.

Matt K. said he might do a video tutorial on organizing presets. See his blog post today. And I agree with you, mine definitely need some help! I started organizing by author then realized that it might be better by effect type. Now figure it'll be too much trouble to go back and fix it...

All of what's been said already but on my wish list - which I really consider feature fixes, is more consistency between the Modules and elements of a module.

General....

I always thought it would have been logical to be able to switch between the Modules by using L = Library, D= Develop etc.

Library Module...

1. You can drag a Keyword onto an image but you can only drag an image into a Collection - not the other way around.

2. You cannot delete an image when you have a Collection select - you can only remove it from the collection. Then you'd have to try and find the image.

In the Collection you can mark the image for Rejection but when you go to the All Photographs to delete it, setting the Reject flag will not find it. These flags are only local to the Collection.

3. It's a similar story with Keywords. You can't delete an image if you have a Keyword selected. Deletion only seems to work if you have All Photos or a Folder selected.

4. You cannot locate images but using an AND function of Keywords - only OR.

Develop Module...

1. The deletion issue does carry over to the Develop Module. If you select a Collection or Keyword set for Developing you can't delete images in the Develop Module. Sometimes I give up on an image because I can't make it reasonable so I want to delete it.

2. The Direct Adjust buttons in the HSL and Tone Curve are sticky. When you choose another element they are still set. Just an irritation because I've sometimes gone to pan around the image only to find it still set - not sure how you'd get around that though!

3. Channel Tone curves might help with colour cast removal.

Printing....

To be honest I still think I get better results printing from Photoshop, however...

1. I'd like to be able to position the Stroke Border away from the image outline.

2. Ability to add some free text in a selectable font would be nice.

3. Better Print Sharpening control.

Lightroom Wishlist

Lightroom is brilliant - I just wish, wish, wish that it was possible to import images from my Nikon Coolscan.

Surely there are other photographers out there who use their filmscanners to handle large numbers of images (which Lightroom does so well) and wish to be able to the same with their scanner????

Greg....

LR supports PSD and TIF formats - can the Coolscan not provide these formats?
