Carol and Kathy,
Thanks for the comments! To do it each piece of the photo is just a rectangular selection. I made 2 duplicate layers of each selection. I then filled the bottom selection layer with black, applied a gaussian blur of about 30. Then used free transform on the shadow to made it a touch larger. On the photographic selections I then used adjust color -Hue and saturation to colorize the selections to different tones different tones. I did the middle selection first so that the other selection layers came under it. Then I pasted it onto a black background and applied a white stroke layer around the photo. I think thats everything. I was playing around and liked the way it turned out. Thanks again.

Very nice indeed.

It would be a wonderful tutorial/project..thanks for the directions. Simple enough to do with very dramatic results.

Did you use the hue /sat adjustment layer for the selection colour change?
