Copyright symbol in Photoshop Elements 3

Hello, I recently purchased The Photoshop Elements 3 Book for Digital Photographers which has taught me a lot. However, I'm trying to create a watermarking and get stuck when it comes to making the copyright symbol. The book says to press and hold the alt key and type "0169". It doesn't work! The symbol does not appear.

My question is, does anyone who has Photoshop Elements 3 know how to make the copyright symbol? Thank you!

Lesli

hello, you must use the numeric keypad on your keyboard in order for this to work.

Also, you need to use the ALT key on the left side of the spacebar. The one on the right doesn't work for this task.

That's, of course, assuming you're under Windows. Post back if you're on a Mac.

Hi Lesli,

If you are doing this on a laptop by any chance, you need to use the equivalent of the PC number keypad. These numbers are on the letter keys (on my Dell they are blue numbers (0 to 9) on the following keys - j,k,l,u,i,o,7,8,9) - you access them by pressing the Fn key at the same time.

Just a thought...

Mike

Lesli...
On my Mac, in most fonts pressing option+g will give me the copyright symbol.
Hope this helps

Hi Lesli ...

... and welcome to the forum

One thing to bear in mind is that not all fonts have the copyright symbol in them ... so if it doesn't work then try another font

Great! It worked! Thank you all for your help. My next question: How do you get the watermark on a bunch of photos at one time? The book doesn't explain how to do this. Please don't tell me I have to move the watermark on my many photos one by one.

Welcome to the forum and I guess I bear the news that it must be applied to each one.

One way to do this is make the watermark a separate file and the drag it onto the picture then you'll be able to position it for the picture, change color or other embellishments to make it work with each picture.

Hi ...

Something else you could consider is making a brush for the watermark ... once you have done that it is pretty simple and quick to apply to your images.

Here is a link to a mini tut I did on making one ... if you scroll down the thread you will find details on how to make a more complex one:

Also, using the Process Multiple files under the file menu will allow you to add the watermark to each image automatically > 'labels' on the right side options menu.
