Hello :)

Hi everyone, I'm Lee and I'm a new member here.

I bought a Wacom Grapphire 4 just over three months ago. I used the wireless mouse that came with it but I haven't used the pen much. I liked it so much that I'm using the word "wacom" in my username too. It came with Elements 3.0 so I search for tutorials and found this forum.

I'm a freelancer and an admin at Radioplay Contests. It is about amateur radioplays that people produce these days but some of them are based on popular Superhero and videogames such as Superman, Soul Calibur, and Buffy The Vampire Slayer.

I'm looking forward on interacting with other members here.

Welcome to the forum! You'll find lots of help here. How about starting a gallery so you can share your work?

I think you're going to love the Wacom pen when you get used to it. Try it when making selections in PSE and you'll never go back to the mouse...

I'm going to check out your website later on...

Thanks for all the welcome messages.

By the way, do any of you know any tips on how to get used to the pen? For example, do a specific art exercise for 10 minutes for a week, then do another type of activity after that week.

Lee,
I'm still not using my pen to it's full capacity but when I just make the effort to do whatever I am working on with the pen (instead of mouse) it is easier. And my accuracy with it improves.
I have found that I got better results switching to eraser tool on PSE5 and using the nib end of the pen rather than upending the pen to erase.
I don't know of any exercises as such, maybe someone else does

Lisa

I can't vouch for this method but I've heard several dedicated pen users say you just need to hide your mouse away where you can't get to it easily.

Hello and welcome to the forum,

I can personally vouch for the "hide the mouse" method. Do EVERYTHING with the pen for about 30 days and I mean EVERYTHING! Hide the mouse if you must. Be sure to set up one of your buttons for right click (Start>All Programs>Tablet>Pen Tablet and.... you definitely want to explore setting up some actions for the pop-up menu feature.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any questions.

Hmmmmm.... I'm wonder where my mouse is hiding!

Hi, Lee, & welcome! As to the pen and the tablet, I've had my tablet for about two weeks now and I couldn't live without it! My advice also would be to use it & hide the mouse. You will get used to it in no time!

Good luck.
