Selective sharpen
When we sharpen an image we could use the well-known non-destructive technic with the Hi-Pass filter in blendmode Hardlight.
Another often used technic is the selective sharpen one. Those two technics can be combined ofcause. The below ATN file put the edges on a layer. It do not sharpen, only make a layer with the edges. So it could be used for other things than just that. If you do a sharpen on that layer, the blank areas do not get sharpness, so it would sharpen the noise less than the object. Benny

Hi Ellen
I haven't made a "thumbs.psd" because I used PSE5. But that I could make later. Below is another useful one that I made. Like my two previous ATN uploads, this one also has multi purposes. It only duplicate the image in LAB mode, without making any corrections. The user can decide what to do, and then with mouse + Shift, drag it over to the source image that was duplicated. Tips: The levels (Ctrl+L) would have other options than R G B such as channel A, B, and Lightness. Try Channel A and B in levels, e.g. 55 1 200 instead of 0 1 255, etc... Benny

Sorry for my question...
How do I see the tutorial on selective sharpen? I do not understand, try to open it and what executed was CS4 program, but it was all blank. Is this some kind of plug-in and if so how do I install it? |
