I have downloaded this episode from the Photoshop Elements Killer Tips section in the Subscriber Area, and the downloading was abnormally slow. Any reason why this 7:09 minute episode should be showing 110.1 MB????

Because of the title, I was thrown off when I started to view the video and did not see any Shapes Layers. The light bulb lit when I realized that you were talking about clipping groups with shapes created with the Rectangular Marquee Tool in regular layers. Thank you for a very interesting and effective technique suggestion.

I subscribe via iTunes and that download and viewing was fine. I've really enjoyed both of the episodes dealing with designing with shapes - very creative!

Although my download from this site for this episode was extremely labored, it did download after maybe 30 minutes plus. By comparison, the download as a free subscription from iTunes went well in much less time.

It would appear that there are some technical glitches in this podicast at this site since this episode showed a file size of about 110 MB instead of the 10 MB typically seen for one of these regular episodes.

I didn't seem to be getting anywhere with the link posted above so went to the killer tips 'corner' where it appeared as a 110 MB download!
As it was going to be 30 mins plus, I didn't download.

Presumably there is some error here?

The file from iTunes is exactly the same (bit for bit, it's the same file/location). See attachment below. I agree the file is large, but that's because of a high bit rate and not a glitch. I'm assuming the next episode will be back to normal. Whoever exported it must have just forgotten it was for web and not DVD.

iTunes downloads things in the background, so you may not notice it takes as long. I'm assuming you're on dial up, but for high-speed users (which includes the vast majority of people downloading media) it should download in around 5 minutes.

iTunes is a free download for both Mac and PC. It can be found at www.apple.com/itunes

Jon,

Just an add on to my details for my situation:

I am using DSL (768 kilobits/sec). That translates into about 83 kilobytes/sec (corrected) which I think translates into about 0.081 megabytes/sec. If I have my conversion correct and estimate right, that calculates to about a theoretical 23 minute download time for that episode of 110 MB.

I would image that anyone with dial up would be in really rough shape for that download.
