Day 5 retouching question
ooo oooo ..Mr Cross sir, I have a question...(frantically waving hand in the air)
I was wondering about the sequence of layers if I wanted to do both the whitening as well as the colouring. I always seem to have trouble with a double mask. Thanks, Gary.

The best thing to do is try it out: make 2 adjustment layers, each with their own layer masks and then play around with the order: drag the Levels adjustment layer up or down in the layer order. Chances are, you'll end up with the Hue/Saturation adj layer above the Levels adj layer, but there may be exceptions...

Thanks Dave
Does the lower mask stop the upper mask from showing?

My problem is, because I'm still learning quite a bit of stuff, if something doesn't work right (meaning the way I expected it to) I never know if its me doing something wrong, or just the way I have something set up.

After posting the above question, I did some colour boxes with a hue/sat and levels adj. layer on top of each other. The lower mask didn't seem to stop the upper adjustment. I didn't try swithcing them around (forgot)

Dabbling in the dark arts are you -- well Dave does encourage trying things to see what happens -- at least I know your original work is safe, so dabble away and let us know how it turns out -- maybe a pixentral image would be nifty.

With the layers palette to refer to it makes sense -- thanks for sharing.

The layer mask only affects the adjustment layer it's attached too. The order of the layers can have an affect on the overall look though.
