Help Colorizing

Hi All,

Having some problems with the coloring. I can't seem to get her dress right. Also the skin tones may need adjusting. Any suggestions? Been working on this for the past couple of hours. Change the image from grayscale to color mode, have tried different adjustment layers with hue/ sat, just painting and changing blending modes. It doesn't look right to me!

I think you should post this on the Beginner or Advance forum. They can offer help. Good luck!

Hi Andrea

I think you have done a wonderful job... Here I believe is your trouble…. The dress in the original, at least what I can see, has its highlights blown. There is no detail to show the folds of the cloth.

If you can’t darken the original…. if the detail is blown there… think about coping detail from other dresses in the picture if you can find any… Not the whole dresses just the detail. One way is to clone or make selections then blend in. If you have the detail on a separate layer you can desaturate… use some high pass filtering then change the layers opacity to overlay.

If you are real artistic open a blank layer and use a brush set to multiply and draw your own details in.

Good luck Butch

Hi Butch,

Thanxs for the advice on the little girl, she is the daughter of the little boy that you did so much work on in the beginning of the month. I am getting ready to post the work that I have done on him. With the directions you have given me, you have really made me stretch and come out of my comfort zone. I only hope that I have done your wisdom in restoration justice. Please be on the look out in Before and After. The girl will be be on the back burner until her father is done. I would really like your advice on how this could be better, as to what was done......

Thanxs again.... It is almost ready

Michelle, You are probably right, should have posted in the " Beginners or Advanced".....
