Photo Restoration

Far from ideal, but the photo wasn't great quality to start with. However, this photo was a favourite of a friend, so really pleased I was able to do this much with it. My first real try at restoration, with a lot of help from my forum buddies

Converted photo to B&W, then colourized the dress, sand, skin & hair (it really was white blond). Adjusted levels and used high pass sharpen and finally cropped.

Thanks Pauline. Yes I did learn a bit with this, not only built the photo, but built my confidence a little as well

I really love the color tones in your rework. Did you recruit the colors from another photo, or just made them yourself?

Linda,
I am so impressed. This is wonderful. I've decided (FWIW) when one decides to do a restoration, one has to think of 'what game plan' to go with.
What you chose IMO was perfect. WOW!

What a great job!! This little girl reminded me of my little girl who is also afraid of the water at the beach. So cute!

Thank you everyone.

Michelle, yes she was very sweet then, at 24 she is a lovely girl.

Denise, I just used basic colours and then used the "colour" blend mode. First time I have done this and I have to say, it was like magic and very simple to do. I was so pleased with her hair, as it was very white. I used yellow, colour blend mode and reduced the opacity to 20%.
