Making a bag

Pauline asked

Quote:
Now I understand that you make the fabric.......when you made the purse did you actually draw it too or was it a stamp/cutout that you used on the fabric? The same with the tools? Yes, I know I'm digging pretty deep into your head, but inquiring minds want to know.
So as not to hijack the other thread I will reply here

First I made two lots of material for the bag
then sketched out the bag and used the sketch as a template.
Then I selected the main shape of the bag and used the selection on the material I had already made (Edit>Copy etc) then pasted it onto its own layer
So that gave me the main bag shape.
I did the same thing with the pockets (using the other swatch of material I made)
...and moved them into place.

I did that for each element of the bag that used the material (straps, top horizontal bar).

Then I made the bits that hold on the straps and did a cross stitch on them in dark blue. Next used white to stitch the pockets on.

Hope this helps

Wendy

Thanks Wendy, that's wonderful. Got it and now I'm beginning to understand the creative process from Elements point of view which really helps.

Good idea to move to a new thread too. I know some times we get carried away and the main idea of the thread disappears. I should have ask this on a separate thread.

Brice,

Yes thats right ... either do them individually or adjust the brush spacing. Adding a very slight shadow to the stitches makes it look more real

shadows to the stiches! I would have never thought of that!! Well I guess I will now! It's the details that make it all so fabulous. I love detail and need to use it more with elements.
