Monograms

Monograms are hot right now and I'd like to use them in my layouts but I'm new to PSE3 and don't quite know how to make one out of a patterned paper. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi there ...

On this side of the Atlantic we call sets of interwoven initials monograms ... like these:

... but it doesn't sound like you mean that. Could you maybe give us a link to the sort of thing you mean?

Like this. I have seen a few tuts on this at digi-scrapping sites but I don't think they are for PSE3.

Hi,

Are these the sort of things you add to your posts in forums?

Not sure I understand the question. I'm just trying to figure out a way to make a single letter to add to a scrapbook layout.

Thanks

To make a very simple monogram I would:
 create a new layer above your background
 draw a square, rectangle, circle etc on the new layer
 fill your shape with a color or texture
 switch to your text tool
 choose a font that you like
 click on your shape and type one letter
 size the letter and then use the move tool to place it on your page where you would like it to appear.
Hope that helps - let us know!

embossing monograms

Hi,stefanut!
This is a bit late, but there is a good tutorial in the subscriber area by Linda Sattgast, called "Elegant Embossing" that shows you how to do an embossed monogram. If you can't find it,let me know, and I'll write out the steps.Mary's idea is right, though, for an unembossed monogram.Good luck! Alice

Hi Pat ...

Not too sure which one you mean ... as I have a few initial ones. If you give me a link to an image I will check it out for you:

However, there are two in here Wendy's Mini Tutorials

One is under simple signature brushes and the other Complex Copyright Brushes ... although I think that they may actually be in the same thread.

Let me know if they are not the ones you mean

Wendy

Hi Wendy,

I was referring to the initials you have a link to in your Aug 25th post in this thread. (the 2nd one from the start of this thread) However, your complex copyright brush mini tutorial is indeed what I was looking for, thank you.

I actually had thought out how I could accomplish it on my own and looks like I had it figured out - hooray!! An indication I am indeed learning something!

Thanks for getting back to me Wendy; you are always so quick!
