Actions

I'd love to be able to use all those actions I see posted everywhere. I'd like to learn how to turn my photos into paintings, and there seem to be a lot of actions out there to do that.

Hi there ...

Well Actions tend to be written for Photoshop but some of them do work in Elements ... BUT only if all of the commands they contain are in Elements AND if there is more than one action in the set then Elements can't cope with that either.

It is quite complicated to sort out ... and usually its easier to install them and just see. Installing them is done by the same method as the PET Extras.

I'm not sure if there is a sketch one that works. Does anyone else know????

I wish that Adobe would add Actions to Elements too ... but somehow I don't think that they will.

Hi Wendy.

I think there might be an action or two that work in elements re the sketch thing. I don't have that action site address right now but I think if one did a search for actions (at the top of the formum page) it would be there. Also, Richard Lynch has some information on using actions in elements and how to load in the ones that aren't specifically designed for elements. I know that information is somewhere under actions in the forum.

My personal view, however, is that most of the actions, while time saving, don't necessarily pose a fix all for every photo. I have found that each picture is unique in it's own right and usually takes something other than just pulling it in and running an action so, for my purposes anyway, I prefer to learn the technique that is utilized by the action.
