unable to initialize dvd burner enginge

I am fairly new to PE. I can not burn a dvd from PE. I continue to get the error unable to initialize dvd burning engine. I have tried removing other software that might be causing compatibility issues, such as inCD ,but still get the same error. I also do not see the option to burn to folder anywhere within the program.

Hi

Are you trying to burn from Photoshop Elements or Premiere Elements?

I just did a tutorial on burning a DVD in PRE last week its the top post on this thread, there is a screen shot of the burn dialogue box that has the option to burn to a folder.

Let me know if you have further questions.

Premiere elements burning error

I am burning From Premiere. I did watch your tutorial, and my problem is when you hit the burn dvd button. I do not get the dialogue box that opens once you do this. What I get is an error message that says "could not initialize dvd burning engine. Thanks for your help.

Ah ok..

Well, lets start with the obvious...Are you able to burn a DVD outside of PRE?

Using the software that came with your burner see if you can just grab a file and burn it to the disc. IF you are able to do that then, I would like for you to try this...

Open your project and copy all of your media files (media window CTRL +A, CTRL +C)

then make a new project and paste it all to the new project, save.
Then go back to the old project and do the same with the timeline.
Go back to new and paste it all to the new project.
Then rerender the project and then try to burn again.

Let me know

burn error

I have nero that came with my burner and I am able to burn from there. I have tried to burn 3 different videos that I have created from premier with the same error. I have even tried to burn the birthday tutorial that I completed and still get the same. I am trying what you suggested, but when I go to paste the items in the new project, I have no option to paste. I have tried the copy command two ways. Thanks again.

Ok..

Open a new project import the media that you used in the previous project
THEN go to the old project click in the timeline and then do Ctrl + A, then Ctrl + C to copy. go back to the new project and click in the timeline and hit Ctrl + V to paste the project into the timeline.

I just tried it out to make sure it was working like I told you and found that for some reason I had to actually import the media instead of copying in like I have in the past. Not sure when or why that changed :?

But you can paste the project into the timeline once you reimport the media.

Let me know how it goes

Still happening

ok, I did what you suggested but the same thing happened. I was told in another forum to uninstall the software and reload which I did, but even that gave me the same result.

What are your system specs?

How much Memory do you have?

Are you using a Dell? and if so is your antivirus software on or off?

Sorry for all the questions but I'm trying to narrow down the problem

My Specs

I understand....

P4 3gig Hyperthread
1 gig ram
360 gig hard drive
Pacific Digital 16x16x40 dvd-+R-+RW dvd burn
windows XP Pro
Norton Internet security 2004

This is not a Dell, I built the computer myself. I am more of the hardware type. I play with tons of software, but am much better at building the computers.

I have been reading many of the other items in this forum, and see you have made many more of the tutorials. Is there a page I can go to view them? Thank you again for your time

Avid Free DV...
