Custom Frame
I have PSE4 and I would like a tutorial on making a custom frame. I have a photograph of a large palm leaf that I would like to make into a frame. Then place the frame around another photograph. Any help?

Welcome to the forum. I don't know the answer to your question but I am sure someone will be along. Probably tomorrow morning depending on time zone.

Do you have a link to a similar frame ... it would make it a lot easier if we could see what you want to make ?? ![]() Wendy

Here are sample photos. The Palm leaf is what I'd like to use as a frame, such as on the other photo. Any tutorials on this?

Well, looks as if I'm having trouble with pixentral so I'll try again. Hopefully, I have it right this time.

Hi ..
An easy way to do this would be to open the 2nd image, then go the layers palette abd check if your image is a background layer. If it is just double click on the layer thumbnail and rename it. Then add some canvas to the image (just to give some space for the frame) Image>Resize>Canvas Size ... make sure that relative is check and then add the same figure to each box (try about 2 and see if that works OK) Then Copy and paste your palm tree into the same image .. ... drag it below your photo and use the move tool to make it fill the space around the photo. Wendy

Or how about a frame made from the picture? I've been playing around making frames today, so I hope you don't mind if I tried it out on your image!
Bayla PS. I used Corey Barker's Wood Frame tutorial from the Subscriber area (if you are a subscriber). Otherwise HERE is another tutorial for frame making.

To make a frame out of any photo - merely use the marquee tool - and place a selection where you would like your frame to be - and choose edit>cut
Everything inside the marquee selection will be deleted leaving only the edge between your marquee selection and the outside edge of your canvas - as the frame. To fill it with your photo Open photo - select>all edit> copy Go to frame use magic wand to select inside of frame edit>paste into selection The use the move tool to manimpulate your photo inside your frame - moving it - making it smaller or larger - until you are happy with the results - then click commit.

Bayla - I like your frame better than a simple marquee selection frame.
The joined corners looks very cool.

Thanks to everyone! The frame made from the picture of the palm leaf is exactly what I was trying to do. Thanks for the tutorial link. Now, I have to see if I can do it. Once the frame has been made, do I just copy and paste it on top of the photo I want to use it with or do I need to make layers? Gosh, I'm so green!! I wish I were half as talented as the rest of you are.
I plan to take the layers course when I get a break in my busy schedule. That should help me a lot.
